These Sandals Are Made For Walkin'

Last week Millie finally decided to take the plunge and actually take off walking!

And I think she is liking her new found freedom...

This girl definitely likes to do things on her own time.  She has been "walking" since she was 12 months old, but we had to be sitting on the floor where she felt safe.  At 14 1/2 months, her bravery came over her and she can't be stopped!

She loves to run to us and give hugs...

and she loves taking her baby on walks...

She is also kinda starting to pull off a bow... but I'm not gonna lie, it sometimes makes me sad because she looks so old!

Watch out, cause Millie is on the move!

Lots of Reunions

Last week was full of lots of reunions for us!
Millie had no idea what to expect when I told her about everyone we would be seeing...

First, my friend from birth, Becca, and her little boy, Oliver, were in Augusta for a few days all the way from Seattle.

Since they live on the other side of the country, and the last time I saw Oliver he was 3 weeks old, Millie and I decided to take a last minute trip to say "hello."

I got to catch up with my friends, while Millie got to get to know some of her friends better....

For the most part, she had lots of fun... but according to this picture I have no idea what she was thinking...

And according to this picture, you can see how difficult it is to get 4 babies to sit in a line to pose for a picture...

Ella is saying it all...

What fun friends!

After my friend reunion, we went up to North Georgia (or I guess I should say "down" to GA, now that I am North Carolinian) for a family reunion.
This wasn't just your basic family reunion... it was a reunion that consisted of 96 family members!!  My grandmother, Nonnee, is one of 5 children.  Those 5 children all married and multiplied, and there are now 4 generations represented.

Here is a picture of the 2nd generation (my mom and all her cousins)...

We got to spend lots of time with some fun people!

I love this one of Millie playing with little Lelia through the window...

I would have loved to have gotten lots more pictures, but in the midst of snapping away, I see this....

I think thats Brown's nonchalant way of saying, "It's your turn."

Thankfully, we did get a picture of my branch of the family...

We had everyone but Allen, Aunt Debbie, Hank, Nonnee and Papa... Nonnee's pancreatitis flared up again while we were at the reunion. She is now back in the hospital in Augusta.  Please remember Nonnee and Papa in your prayers!!

We love reunions!

"Water Makes the Millie Grow"

To beat the summer heat, I thought Millie would like a cute blow-up baby pool.

I was wrong.

She hated it.  She was completely frightened and she completely freaked out at the sight of it.
She loves the big pool and the tub, but the blue fish pool... no way jose.

Who knew that all she really needed to entertained her was a basic old garden hose??

She clearly isn't giving that silly old fish behind her a second thought.
(I will admit, it does seem kinda scary when you look at it).

"'Take that' scary fish pool!"

Her favorite thing to do was swing the water all around like this...

Sometimes she didn't have the best aim...

but she didn't seem to mind a little water in the face...

She liked to water the grass...

And sometimes she liked to be watered too...

...maybe she wanted to grow...

...or maybe she didn't...

One thing I do know... we clearly have a water baby on our hands....

The Photoshoot

There is usually one night dedicated to taking pictures on the beach.
Last year, I took these and the boys had plenty of room to run free and play.
This year, the tide was so high in the evenings that there was barely any beach!  On top of that, the sun was so bright, it was time for supper, and some of us (who shall remain nameless) wanted nothing to do with taking pictures.  But we pushed forward and got some pretty cute ones!

BEWARE:  There are LOTS of pictures!!

First Mary Charles took a few pictures of our little family on 3...

Can you tell who was not into pictures?

She also got a few shots of just Millie and me, which is a rarity.

Thanks May May!  She did a great job!!

While Millie's cousins made their way down to the beach, I tried to take some of her...

...but again, she was not up for posing.  So I just took this silhouette picture.  That way, you can't tell if she is smiling or not =)  and I think its pretty sweet too.

Once the 3 stooges and their baby sister arrived...

I got a few pictures of all 5 of them together....

Pretty cute.

I wonder who the skunk at the picnic was in this one...

That is Millie saying, "I told you!  I'm over this!"
But before she got her way, we got one with the mamas...

Thankfully, these little ones were a little better at cooperating....

(well, Charlie may or may not have wanted to join Millie).

Here they are with their sweet mama.

How precious!

Probably the one who "worked" the camera the best...

Mimi Barrett!  She smiled the entire time!

But it wasn't just all work and no play...

And it definitely takes lots of muscle to play this hard...

These next may be my very favorites...

They remind me of the simple times of childhood.  So carefree and so fun!
It makes me want to go back!

Brotherly love...

And before I finally end this very very long post, I had to give you just a taste of Mr. Porter's funny personality...

Enough said.

Until next year...
