Cousin Trip

After 4 weeks of being cooped up in the house, we thought we should all hit the road and head east.  We love going to see all the cousins (and their mama and daddy), and it was time for Sims to meet the crew!!!

And what a crew it is!!  (Excuse the bad picture)

There are always fun adventures to be had when we go there.
Like playing in the rain...

Hanging out with fun people while watching Aunt Mimi ride a bike...

and getting to eat apples on the porch with your best friend...

Sims is such a lucky girl to join this crew!

1 Month

This post is of course almost 3 weeks late, but at least the pictures were taken on time.
Sims is 1 month old!

Sadly, the pediatrician here does not do 1 month check ups, so there is nothing to report.  But Sims is doing so well!!

She is such a sweet baby and is for the most part easy going.  She gets fussy when she is hungry and when she is having reflux pains, but I don't blame her.

She only gets up once at night, so I can't complain!  She is eating well and is really good at sleeping with lots of chaos (aka her sister) going on around her.

She loves her sister, and her sister loves her.
Millie usually does NOT like it when she sees me get the camera out, but isn't it interesting that once I start taking pictures of someone else, she seems to want to slip in the picture :)

I may have finally discovered how to get her to smile for the camera.

I can't believe that our little baby is almost 7 weeks old!!
We love our sweet girl!!

First Day of School

September was a big month for Millie.
Not only did she welcome home her new baby sister, but the day after we got home from the hospital, she started her very first day of preschool!!

I had a hard time watching my first baby go to school.  She is my little buddy and we have been inseparable for the past 2 years... but I guess it is only two days a week for just 3 hours!

Thankfully, she really enjoys it!

I'm so proud of my little Millie!

She's Here!

Katherine Sims Johnson "Sims"
was born September 1, 2012 at 6:20 p.m.!
She weighed 8 lbs. 11 oz. and was 21 1/4 in. long.
Sims is named for my Aunt Kat, and I would give anything for her to be able to meet her.  I know that she is looking down on her little name sake.  Oh how she would have loved holding and loving on sweet Sims.  We miss her so much.  I always loved that I got to have Aunt Kat's name, and now I am proud that the name continues with little Sims!
We feel so blessed to welcome this precious little baby into our family.  She is only 5 weeks old, and I already can't imagine my life without her!!  After being a week overdue, I was finally induced on Saturday afternoon.  Thankfully everything went smoothly and the labor and delivery was not bad at all!!  When it was all said and done, Sims was here!!

Her very first pictures...

The doctors and nurses kept saying that she was such a big baby, but compared to Millie, she seemed petite to us!  Its strange, but the pictures make her look like she has full cheeks, but we keep thinking she looks so small!

Right after she was born...

My mom and sister, Mimi came to Winston the Friday before Sims arrived, so my mom could be at the hospital, and Mimi could keep big sister Millie while we were gone.  We were so grateful that they were there!
We were curious how Millie would react to her new baby sister, and thankfully she did so well!

Here she is coming to meet her new sister just an hour or so after she was born...

So sweet!

Not quite sure what she thinks yet...

but still so excited!

Sims is such a lucky girl and had so many people who love her come to visit in the hospital....

Emmie and Sims

Aunt Mimi and Sims (along with big sister)

Doc and Sims

And a very proud big sister Millie and Sims

Our new family of FOUR!!

My two girls...

Millie was excited to have the three of us come home.  She made a sign to welcome Sims, helped Doc put the bow on the door, and practiced being a big sister on her baby doll.

Even though having Sims home has taken a little getting used to, Millie has been so sweet and loves her baby sister.

The weekend after Sims was born, she had even more fun visitors come to see her!

Her Annie and Jaybo flew all the way from Birmingham!

They got to spend time loving on Sims...

and playing with Millie...

Sims and Millie also got a fun visit from their Aunt MayMay...

and their Aunt SaySay...

What lucky girls!

We had such a fun weekend with all the visitors...

Millie and Sims were sad to see them go!

Emmie thankfully stayed for a little longer to help out, and what a blessing she was!!  She helped cook, clean, take care of the girls (and me!), and she was also just fun to have around.

Sims, we are so glad that you are a part of our lives.  You are SUCH a precious baby and you truly make our hearts explode with love.

"I prayed for this child, and the Lord has granted me what I asked of him.  So now I give him to the Lord.  For his whole life he will be given over to the Lord."
